My best one of this year:
Student created graphic organizers for the 5 Expository Patterns- tell the students the 5 patterns of expository text (sequence, cause/efffect, problem/solution, compare/contrast, description) and give them 5 expository examples that each exemplifies a pattern. Have groups identify the pattern, and then create a graphic organizer to fill in with information from the expositry text. Each group goes tot he board and draws the graphic organizer they created, and fills it in with the information from the expository text they read.
